Parish Finances & PCC Governance
We will explore the responsibilities of the PCC, and your role as clergy within that. We will discuss wider diocesan finances, as well as looking into the detail of your parish finances and exploring what is going well, as well as giving practical advice for further improvements.
In person: Wednesday 27th November, 10am-12.30pm at Church House, Leeds. Lunch is provided. You can book your space on Eventbrite here.
This session will be repeated online the following week, Wednesday 4th December, 7-8.30pm. You can register for this meeting here.
Generosity as Part of Discipleship
We will explore the importance of talking about generosity and giving to our congregation and communitites. We will investigate some of the practical resources to help lead these conversations, including sermon resources, small group courses, and stewardship campaigns. We will also allow plenty of time for discussion, coming up with new ideas to weave generosity into every part of church life.

Support For You
There are many resources out there to support you practically in your parishes. Click on the image below to open up our Resource Pack for Clergy. This pack is full of links to different webpages where you can find more information on giving, fundraising and treasurer support.
The Stewardship team offers support in many different ways, including attending and speaking with PCCs, hosting Zoom meetings and webinars, and offering 1-to-1 meetings. All clergy are welcome to email the team to book in a 1-to-1 session, to go through your parish's Financial Dashboard, and discuss what is going well in your parish as well as what could be focussed on, or introduced to the congregation. These sessions can be delivered in person in Church House and on Zoom, whatever is easiest for you.
Book in a session here.
Resources for Services
Talking about Giving and Generosity does not come naturally to all, but there are many service plans and sermon outlines to help make this easier.
The Generosity Learning Hub is a great place to look for sermon ideas, service plans, and small group material. You will need to create an account and this will give you access to three courses that help introduce different topics for sermons: The Theology of Giving, Stewardship in the Local Church, and Enabling Ministry at a Parish Level. These all come with supporting materials, such as brochures, promise cards, and other literature. This hub also includes other resources for leading small groups, and for discussing generosity with young people. There are also templates for different services, including daily morning prayer, service of the word, and eucharist.
Parish Resources is a great website for finding guidance on the administration and governance side of leading a church. This website is managed by the national Giving & Generosity team and as well as the practical guidance, there is a wealth of resources to help with leading services, including Giving Programmes as well as Preaching and Worship Resources.
Governance and PCC Legalities Guidance
As well as teaching support, the Parish Resources website has very helpful guides for managing your PCC, amongst other governance issues. Explore the website to find guidance on:
- Legalities around the PCC
- APCM Checklist
- GDPR
- Working with Volunteers and Employing Staff
- The Charity Commission
Reach out to the Stewardship team for any issues and questions, and we can offer support.
