Which Syllabus for Religious Education should my school use?
Voluntary controlled and foundation schools must comply with their Local Authority’s Local Agreed Syllabus for RE.
In voluntary aided schools and Church academies, the governors are responsible for determining which syllabus is to be adopted.
The Diocesan Syllabus for Religious Education is strongly recommended for adoption by all Voluntary Aided schools and Academies in the dioceses and will be a rich and valuable resource for all schools.
The Diocesan Syllabus is now available to all Church schools and academies in the Dioceses of Leeds and York. It is the result of an exciting joint venture which commissioned the RE Today Services and utilises current national thinking and good practice in Religious Education.
The syllabus draws on and is fully compatible with the Understanding Christianity materials.
