The Diocese of Leeds is delighted to offer the Ministry Experience Scheme for people aged 18-29, as part of the national MES programme (see their video).
In our diocese, we have opportunities for up to 12 participants to experience ministry in a range of parishes over 11 months, along with theological education and time and space to discern what God’s call means for you.
You will be able to:
- explore your vocation and if full-time ministry is your calling
- experience ministry in context by joining in with what is happening in a local parish
- study with experienced tutors and apply your learning in the parish
- explore different ways of being church
- and live and grow alongside others exploring the same way.
Here is what Jess, one of our past MES participants who is now a curate in our diocese, said:
“The Ministry Experience Scheme gave me the space to invest more in my relationship with God in my own time in addition to learning about the Bible and worshipping with other young people exploring ministry. I was challenged to step outside my comfort zone, explore gifts I didn’t know I had and grow in those areas I am passionate about. I felt incredibly supported and encouraged in my calling and walk with Jesus, but the year also brought amazing memories of fun, joy and laughter with housemates and other MES participants which I will treasure for life.”
