Missionary and author Sheila Leech visits Shipley

Missionary and author Sheila Leech will be spending the weekend of 13-15 April with St Peter’s Shipley.

Sheila works for Bradford -based charity Reach Beyond, and is the author of the recent paperback ‘God Knows what I’m Doing Here’ which describes her eventful life.

Originally from the UK, Sheila is a registered nurse who has been serving on the mission field for more than 30 years. She started her missionary life living with an indigenous tribe in the western lowlands of Ecuador. She has served in all of the health care ministries in the mission and currently oversees the Reach Beyond Global Hands efforts in all regions. She serves as a member of the leadership team of the mission, and is currently Hands-on in palliative care and disaster response around the globe.

John Rainer, Vicar of St Peter’s, says ‘Sheila has been a mission partner of St Peter’s for more than ten years, and we have supported her efforts in a number of major disaster areas, notably the Haiti earthquake in 2011. She has an inspiring story to tell to young and old alike. Some church members have described her book as “unputdownable”.

Visitors are welcome to come and meet Sheila and to join in with events at St Peter’s on Saturday 14th, at 10.00am (Coffee morning) and at 6.00pm for a family evening. There is no charge for these events, although donations will be welcome.
