Christian attitudes towards self-love in the modern world are explored in a new book co-authored by one of our Honorary Bishops, the Rt Revd Chris Edmondson.
In this third publication on which they have collaborated, Bishop Chris and Karen Openshaw, together with Martin Grindrod, Shaun Lambert and Bev Walker, share their own unique stories of learning to love God, neighbour and self.
Their hope is, that wherever someone is in their journey of life, “Self love(d): mindful journeys of learning to love God, neighbour and self” will give fresh insights and lead to loving God and others more.
Describing this most recent collaboration Bishop Chris said: “My friend and co-author Karen had the original vision for what has become ‘Self-love(d): mindful journeys of learning to love God, neighbour AND self’ back in 2017.
“Enriched by the contributions of three other authors as well as ourselves, we hope that what has now emerged, offers a rich blend of theological and spiritual insights with personal stories and practices, as we explore the essential interconnectedness of loving God, neighbour and self.
“Drawing throughout on the practice of mindfulness, each of the authors seeks to unpack how a healthy, Biblical and grace-filled understanding of self-love, can transform our relationships with God and other people.”
