70 years a priest!
There was a special celebration at St Thomas's Huddersfield when Canon Leslie Chadd celebrated 70 years a priest and his 60th wedding anniversary with his wife, Margaret.
Their son Jeremy, a priest in Sunderland joined his concelebrant, Fr Martin Morgan a former curate from Canon Chadd’s many years as parish priest at SS Peter and Paul in Fareham, in the Diocese of Portsmouth.
And there were lots of family and friends there to share their special day including Bishop Tony Robinson.
The vicar of St Thomas’, Fr Leslie Pinfield said: “We worked out that the combined years of service of all the clergy present was 190 years!”
Canon Chadd who will celebrate his 95th birthday this December, retired in 1992 and he and Margaret moved up to Huddersfield three years ago to be nearer to family, and they worship at St Thomas's every week. Pictured here, Canon Chadd and his wife, Margaret enjoy a well earned glass of bubbly at their double celebration to mark his 70 years a priest and their 60th wedding anniversary!
