Saying thank you

A sit down dinner for all those churches and charities who work tirelessly for others

Christians Together Calderdale hosted a special dinner for more than 60 Christian leaders from churches, charities and businesses to say a big thank you for all that they do.

The event called Gratitude was initiated by one of the trustees Catherine Binns who wanted to recognize all those Christians working quietly away in the background supporting a wide range of local people from the local food bank, asylum seekers at St Augustine’s, those in debt, or those who volunteer at Alpha Housing and Happy Days who provide living accommodation for those with addiction problems or being released from prison.

The churches and charities in Calderdale which provide support for mums, babies and toddlers, support people with cancers, those who support for the elderly and their carers and those that support young people.

Linda Maslen, part of the group who worships at All Saints, said: “The people invited to the event make a substantial contribution to our community day in day out and we want to say a big thank you to them for all they do.

“And it was a brilliant night,” she added.

Sixty nine people joined us for a sit-down dinner and enjoyed each other's company.

Said Linda: “To see the people who work so hard for God's Kingdom come together and just relax and enjoy themselves was beautiful.  We believe it is the first time this has been done in Calderdale and believe it will not be the last.  We know God loves it when His people work together in harmony and it was just a pleasure for Christians Together to facilitate this happening.

Comments from the night included: “What a wonderful evening - a heartfelt thanks to all the trustees for putting on the event - so carefully planned to the smallest detail and well executed.”

“It was lovely to meet with so many Christians, to put faces to names, and worship our loving God together (thanks to the worship group and those in the kitchen."
