Pride Church Leeds will mark the 20th anniversary of Leeds Pride Festival next week with a special celebration at Leeds Minster.
The third annual Leeds Pride Celebration service will be held on Friday, July 17, beginning with a drinks reception at 7pm.
The service will follow at 7.30pm and there will be cake and drinks afterwards as part of the celebrations.
The ecumenical service, organised by colleagues from the Diocese of Leeds as well as Methodists, URC and Baptist representatives, will include music, songs, poems, prayers, an act of Solidarity and Commitment and more
All are welcome at the service, which will be attended by the Lord Mayor of Leeds, Councillor Stephen Holroyd, and the Rt Revd Toby Howarth, Acting Bishop of Leeds.
The Revd Canon Mark Umpleby, Vicar of Rothwell and one of the organisers of the service, said: "We are delighted that at the start of the Leeds Pride weekend we can celebrate and come together as members of the LGBTI+ community and friends in Leeds Minster.
"At this time when many of us are seeing more discrimination and hate, this is an opportunity to stand alongside one another recognising and affirming God's love for all - as well as a time to be proud and show support, encouragement and love to one another."
Pride Church meets for a service each month on the first Wednesday at 7pm at Leeds Minster.
