This Volunteers Week we want to say a huge thank you to all school governors who support schools across the diocese.
Governors are the strategic leaders within schools and are responsible for promoting high educational achievement standards, ensuring every child and adult in their school flourishes.
Governors can make a huge difference to a school, pupils, their families and the community.
Effective governing boards work collectively to make their schools a place of Christian welcome where adults and children achieve their best.
Simone Bennett, Diocesan Director of Education, said: “I want to say a heartfelt thank you to everyone who gives their time, care and commitment to serve as a school governor.
“At the heart of our schools are so many dedicated people who give of themselves, so that others can flourish.
“Governors play such an important part in this, working alongside school leaders, supporting staff and helping to create environments where every person is known, valued and able to thrive.
“Being a governor can be challenging at times, but it’s always about partnership and shared purpose.
“For many, it can also be a wonderful expression of our Christian witness and ensuring schools are places of welcome, compassion and hope for all.
“Please know how much your contribution is appreciated and that you really do make a difference.
“If you would like to explore becoming a governor, we would really love to hear from you.
“It’s a rewarding way to serve your community and support the life of our schools.
“Please come and find out more – no prior governor experience is needed and the team can support with information and training.”
