Beeston\'s \'clock walk\'

Repairs to the clock at St Mary’s, Beeston have begun thanks to a sponsored walk organised by the church and the Save Our Beeston Facebook Group.

Forty walkers set out from St Mary’s to ‘beat the bounds’ of the parish.

Revd Lindsey Pearson, Vicar of Beeston, says, "We had wonderful weather and a lovely group of walkers, including our Brownies who walked the whole route without complaining. And I'm delighted to say that, along with a table top sale, we've raised £3000".

The clock has not worked for a number of years. It was built by William Potts & Sons, the famous Leeds clockmaker and installed when the present building was erected in the 1870s.

To raise further funds, the church is selling an original painting (see below) of St Mary’s in a secret auction. Bids can be placed at the Parish Centre and the bids will be opened on Sunday 26 March.
