Parish Structures and Governance

Caring for the ministry and mission of the Church is just as important as caring for the church buildings and curtilage.

From time to time, it can become necessary to review historic structures of parishes and benefices, suspend patronages when a vacancy occurs, or close church buildings in order to revitalise the mission and continue growing in confidence. This section contains guidance and information on pastoral reorganisation, patronage and suspensions, parish vacancies and church closures.

All of these changes can be challenging. Contacting the diocesan team to discuss any of these at the earliest opportunity can make the change process easier to navigate.
