Pupils from one of our primary schools have made the news after they charmed train travellers with an on-the-platform performance of ‘Wonderwall’ by Oasis.
Children from Baildon CofE Primary School, Baildon, sang the catchy tune while their music teacher strummed the ukulele at Shipley Station after their train got cancelled.
And the Bradford Telegraph & Argus picked up on the story after being sent a video of the platform performance, which may be viewed in its report here.
Bridget Armstrong, music teacher at Baildon CofE Primary School, told the T&A: “We took our Year 4 children by train into Bradford for a Come and Play music event at St George’s Hall.
“Hundreds of children from all over Bradford attended the event which featured the Halle Orchestra from Manchester. It was a lovely event.
“But then when went to get the train back to Baildon, our train at Shipley got cancelled.
“We were sat on the floor of the station with nothing to do, so we started singing songs. One of them was ‘Wonderwall’ by Oasis.
“Some of the children knew it well as they had been practicing singing it for a performance. The rest of the children just sang along.
“It was just an impromptu performance on the platform, and another teacher caught it on video."
She said the group ended up having an audience listening and added: “It was just a nice little moment caught on camera. It was so cute.
“The children absolutely loved it, and some said it was the highlight of their trip into Bradford for the day.
“A lot of their parents have been in touch saying how their children loved it and how lovely it was.”
