Freewheeling Revd Brian Greenfield of St Paul’s Shipley, will soon pedal off on a 100-mile sponsored bike ride in aid of the church’s Children and Youth Work.
Revd Brian will ride along the Leeds and Liverpool Canal from Shipley to his place of birth – Maghull, Merseyside.
"I will be riding over three days and the route will pass most of the places I grew up and where my Christian faith grew too,” Revd Brian said.
“As I embark on this journey, I want to give thanks to God for all those who were part of my faith journey when I was younger, whilst also raising money for an ongoing commitment to do the same in Shipley".
St Paul's Church Choir will also be holding a summer concert on Saturday, July 15 at 3pm, the proceeds of which will also go towards the same good cause.
“We have raised over £2,500 in donations so far, but hope to raise much, much more!” said St Paul’s church administrator Jenny Titchmarsh. “We will be waving Brian off on Monday, July 17 at 10am from Hirst Lock, Saltaire.“
