Loving, Living, Learning rings out in song thanks to one of our school choirs

Talented young singers at one of our primary schools have released their very own “Song for Leeds” to help celebrate our diocese’s 10th anniversary.

Children in the choir of Lepton CofE Primary School in our Huddersfield Area worked with staff and supporters to create “Loving, Living, Learning” that they first performed at the diocese’s 10th anniversary service in Bradford Cathedral in the spring.

And now they are sending everyone off on summer holiday with a rousing video version.

Alison Grant, a parent, governor and one of our ordinands, worked with Lepton teaching assistant Cheryl Arnell to help create the words and a very catchy tune.

They and the pupils were all encouraged by the Rt Revd Smitha Prasadam, Bishop of Huddersfield, who loved the idea of a joyful young song for the diocese.

“We are so proud of our amazing choir!” Said Alison, who is studying at St Hild and worships at Christ the King, Battyeford.

“The diocesan vision of “Loving, Living, Learning” is key to the Christian character of Lepton School and the values our pupils live out in day-to-day life.

“And what better way to celebrate than by singing about it.

“The children were delighted to take part in the Leeds@10 celebrations thanks to Bishop Smitha, it was a real highlight of the year for them.

“Our enthusiastic choir would now love to share the song with the other schools in the diocese.”

Bishop Smitha praised the children and all involved in making music with Loving, Living, Learning: “I love this joyful song – it’s wonderful and I’d like pass on my thanks to the children in the choir and Alison, and also to the headteacher, staff and all pupils at Lepton School.

“Happy holidays!”
