Generosity surrounds everything we do in the Church, and it is a vital part of Christian discipleship. It is important to weave generosity into every part of church life, and embed the culture of generosity in your church community. A focused giving campaign can help you to do this.
What is a Giving Campaign?
We encourage every church to talk about giving and generosity regularly, but too often they get left out. The Anglican Giving Survey (2020) said that 40% of Anglicans had never been asked to give regularly, and only half had heard a sermon on giving in the last 12 months. A Giving Campaign provides churches with the resources to talk about giving and focus on generosity for a set period of time. A campaign is typically run over a few weeks, with 3 to 4 Sundays focusing on different aspects of generosity. The campaign can be used to increase regular giving to improve the church's financial sustainability, but can also be used to kickstart a period of fundraising, or when launching the Parish Giving Scheme.
Review Your Giving
We recommend churches start by completing a review of your church giving culture to identify your strengths and areas for growth. This is a great task for your PCC to complete each year to see how your generous culture is developing.
