Jo Medhurst is excited to be moving from “Down South” to serve at the Benefice of St Mary’s: Kippax, Swillington and Allerton-by-Water. She trained at St. Augustine’s College of Theology and studied pioneer ministry as an extra module, having a heart for contextual mission work. God’s calling to Leeds came in the form of a prompting by the Holy Spirit and she cannot wait to share the testimony God’s faithful provision.
Her previous work as a Teacher, a Bank Manager and a Care Manager shows a caring heart for cross generational work and she has a strong conviction that all are welcome to worship the Lord as one family. “Ohana - means family, family means nobody gets left behind!” (Disney W. Lilo and Stitch (2002)).
Jo will be moving to the Parish with her husband, Dale, (and Mum!). Between them they have 5 grown up children (with partners) and 2 grandchildren. Her favourite places are in the kitchen cooking a huge roast when they all reunite and worshipping Jesus through music. She plays the flute and piano and sings. She is looking forward to combining a love of cooking and worship to reach out to the communities in mission and discipleship opportunities in the benefice…..her catch phrase, “The more the merrier!"
