The Diocese of Leeds is seeking an ordained, visionary leader to join our Formation Team. You’ll support the training and development of curates and Licensed Lay Ministers, create inspiring CMD programmes, and shape the future of interim ministry across the diocese. With a passion for developing people and enabling ministerial formation, you’ll collaborate across teams to equip confident Christian leaders. This is a dynamic, dual-role opportunity based in Leeds, with travel across the diocese. Some weekend and evening work required. Key Responsibilities

Ministerial Formation & Development

  • Collaborate on the design and delivery of inspiring IME2 and LLM training programmes.
  • Provide pastoral support and review processes for curates and LLMs-in-training.
  • Support the development of Training Incumbents and learning communities.
  • Liaise with the Area Bishop of Kirkstall on ministerial formation matters.
  • Continuing Ministerial Development (CMD)
  • Respond to learning needs identified through Ministerial Development Reviews (MDRs).
  • Deliver imaginative training for clergy at various ministry stages.
  • Advise on sabbatical applications and contribute to regional training initiatives.

Interim Ministry Leadership

  • Supervise and support interim ministers in partnership with the Archdeacon of Pontefract.
  • Facilitate learning communities and stakeholder events to share best practice.
  • Develop training and recruitment pathways for interim ministry.
  • Contribute to vacancy process reform and leadership development initiatives.

There is an Occupational Requirement that the post holder is a practising Christian and ordained member of the Church of England in accordance with Schedule 9 of the Equality Act 2010.

The package includes a competitive salary, flexi-time scheme, hybrid working (50%), and 25 days’ annual leave plus bank holidays and four customary days a year (between Christmas and New Year).
