As part of Barnabas: Encouraging Confidence, the Diocese of Leeds is pleased to be able to expand support offered to children, young people and families.
This support will initially come in two distinct ways: developing the links between churches, schools and homes across the region; and working directly with parishes to support the best ways to develop youth work in their area.
These things will help us play our part in the national vision to double the number of young people in active discipleship by 2030.
With more than 200 schools in the diocese, building strong links between them and our churches is an important priority.
To do this, we will recruit someone who will work with churches and schools across the diocese to forge new relationships and to encourage children and young people with and in meaningful discipleship.
This role includes developing area hubs for this work, who will then offer peer learning and support to all in the diocese.
To increase the support offered directly to parishes, Barnabas will also build the capacity of our Children, Young People and Families Team.
This will allow the team to work with parishes on the best options for nurturing and walking with young people in their church, in ways most appropriate for them.
