Bishop Nick has offered support to people in our diocese affected by the Post Office scandal.
Between 1999 and 2015, the Post Office prosecuted 736 sub-postmasters and sub-postmistresses based on information from faulty software that made it look like money was missing.
Some were jailed for false accounting and theft while other were financially ruined.
Responding to the issue, Bishop Nick said: “The dramatization of the Post Office ‘Horizon’ scandal has put flesh and blood onto an issue of appalling injustice.
“While ministers and the courts address the righting of these injustices – which have persisted for two decades and caused unimaginable harm to those caught up in them – it is evident that shock and anger are, rightly, widespread.
“We wish to offer support to those affected and they are also in our prayers.
“A statutory public inquiry began in May 2022 and continues its investigations. It is important that legal and investigatory processes are allowed to proceed in order that justice be served for all involved.”
