Chancellor Rachel Reeves MP took time to meet with a small group of Leeds clergy at St Peter’s Bramley to discuss their how things are going in their area.

The Leeds West and Pudsey MP was keen to hear about the experience of local clergy as they work with local communities, said Revd Julia Wilkins, Rector of Bramley, who hosted the event.

Discussions included provision for young people, food poverty, church work with families, mental health services for older people, VAT reimbursement for work on listed buildings and countering extremism on a local level.

Broader issues around small businesses and future budgetary provision for those living in deprivation was also covered.

Revd Julia commented: “It was really positive to meet with Rachel and to share some of our reflections.

"Community groups here work closely and it was good to be able to demonstrate how the church is sharing hope with those around us.”
