Our Diocesan Advisory Committee is expanding its ability to support parishes with their buildings, with the recent addition of three new members and seven new specialist advisors.
Their contribution will assist the DAC and its staff support parishes care for their church buildings in the best way and develop them as centres of mission that serve God’s people.
Advisor roles recruited will support in consultation on matters of the increasingly significant area of sustainability, as well as lighting, bells, organs and clocks.
Emily Greenaway has joined as member representing the interests of heritage groups.
Emily has over 18 years’ experience working in the heritage sector, predominantly within heritage funding, project development and community engagement across roles for Historic England, the Church of England’s Church Buildings Division and the Heritage Lottery Fund.
Fiona Johnson (BA (Hons) MArch (Hons) MA Cantab) has joined as architect member.
Fiona is an architect with Knox McConnell architects specialising in conservation, with knowledge of building within the Leeds, Durham and Lincoln dioceses.
Fiona has project experience from a wide variety of historic buildings, including several churches, where she has contributed to building improvements (including equal access and extensions) and conservation repair.
Andrew Shepherd (Dip. Arch. (Manc.), Dip. Cons. (A.A.), RIBA, FRSA, IHBC) has also joined as architect member.
Andrew is a chartered architect and surveyor with over forty years’ experience as architect of a wide range of building projects, mostly in conservation, comprising listed church buildings, industrial, scheduled ancient monuments and other building types.
The DAC Secretary, Lisa McIntyre, said “It is very exciting to be welcoming these new members, who will come alongside our existing trusted membership.
“We are looking forward to seeing what new perspectives they bring to our discussions and know that their combined experience will help us to continue to ensure we offer the best possible advice to our PCCs in developing proposals for their buildings.”
The new members have been appointed to fill casual vacancies.
One casual vacancy is still open for a member from Diocesan Synod.
