One of our Ripon area churches is highlighting the beauty and preciousness of God’s creation, by hosting a Wild Flower Festival.
Coverham Church are holding the Wild Coverdale Flower Festival starting in May 2024, which will be the backdrop for a fun and thought-provoking programme of events.
The festival will highlight the precariousness of our natural world and promote the use of native, seasonal flowers and foliage, sourced locally and sustainably - grown not flown.
Tickets are available here.
To launch the festival on the evening of Friday, May 31, there will be a performance by Kathryn Tickell OBE.
Kathryn is a world-famous Northumbrian pipe player and vocalist whose inspiration is derived from landscape and nature.
For the second day of the festival on Saturday, June 1, the church would like to attract as many Florists and Horticulturalists, as well as friends from all walks of life from across Yorkshire, to enjoy the festival in a relaxed atmosphere, visiting either morning or afternoon.
They will be able to see a demonstration, receive refreshments and engage in conversation around a more sustainable approach to flowers.
The event is organised by the Friends of Coverham Church, a registered charity with the aim of preserving their historic church set in Coverdale in the Yorkshire Dales National Park.
They support The Churches Conservation Trust in maintaining the structure of the building, whilst offering a programme of concerts and theatrical performances for the local and much wider community.
Coverham Church is much loved for its tranquil, spiritual setting, and services are held there through the year.
The group are very grateful to their Sponsor, Sustainable Opps and 350PPM, whose support has made this ambitious event possible.
