One of our Leeds curates is looking to make connections across his parish and beyond, with a boundary walk.
The Revd Chris Balding, curate in the parish of Wortley and Farnley, will be walking the 21km parish boundary on Thursday, August 18, praying for the parish and those around it.
The parish has borders with 11 others, and Revd Chris has invited people from these parishes to walk with him while he is on their borders.
During the walk Revd Chris and others will pray for God’s blessing on their parishes, growth for their churches, and transformation for their deanery and region.
Revd Chris said: “I’m doing this walk because we want our church to grow and our parish to thrive and the best way to make that happen is by prayer.
“Seeing the people and places will inform the prayers we pray.
“The parish is so big with so much farmland, there are some parts that we don’t often go to, so to intentionally walk there is important.
And I don’t just want my parish and church to flourish, but I want my parish neighbours and colleagues to flourish too.
“I’m particularly excited to pray with and for our neighbours as we seek to reach this part of Leeds together.
“And it seems Jesus did lots of his ministry walking and talking with others.”
The walk will be on Thursday, August 18 starting at 9am from the church of St John’s, and going in an anti-clockwise direction.
