One of our schools has welcomed back a former pupil and Olympic gold medallist as part of their careers week.
St Matthew’s Church of England Primary School, Chapel Allerton, was visited by Matty Lee MBE, winner of the Men’s synchronised 10m platform diving gold medal at the 2020 Olympic Games, alongside Tom Daley.
Tom Barlow, Key Stage 2 Leader at the school, said: “It was an absolute pleasure to welcome former pupil and Olympic gold medallist Matty Lee back to St Matthew's as part of our careers week.
“Since leaving St Matthew's, Matty has gone on to become one of the best divers in the world and won numerous medals throughout his career, including a gold medal at the 2022 Commonwealth Games in Birmingham and a gold medal at the 2020 Tokyo Olympics.
“Matty gave an inspirational talk to the school and answered some interesting questions that the children had written.
“Some of us were even lucky enough to wear his Olympic gold medal!”
