A primary school has created a Christmas music video to raise money for St George’s Crypt.
St George’s Crypt is a charity based at St George’s Leeds that offers care, compassion and hope to homeless and vulnerable people.
The children and families at St Edward’s Catholic Primary School, in Boston Spa, chose to create a Christmas music video to raise money for The Crypt.
The school created a GoFundMe page with the music video attached, raising £290 so far.
The music video includes a festive collection of dancing by children, their families and staff at the school and it is asking people to donate or share the video to spread the Christmas spirit and raise funds for The Crypt.
The Christmas period can be a lonely and difficult period for many, so this Christmas St. George’s Crypt will provide a lifeline to thousands of people who are in desperate need.
Chris Fields, CEO of St George’s Crypt, said, “For many, Christmas is an exciting time filled with festivities, gift exchanges and food.
“It's often a time where many families get together and reconnect.
“However, for many of our clients Christmas can be a very lonely time of year, so we try to make it as special as possible for those that use our services.
“On Christmas Day, anyone wanting a Christmas lunch, or just some company, are welcomed inside.
“Clients are given a three-course turkey Christmas meal, accompanied by mince pies or Christmas puddings.
“They are also given a Christmas cracker and a present.
“It is so important that we create a sense of community at Christmas for those who otherwise wouldn’t have it.
“We are very touched that St Edward’s Catholic Primary School chose to raise funds for us.
“They set a target of £200 and so far, they have succeeded this target by £90!”
The school said: “We called on the superb collection of dad dancers, mum movers and grooving grandparents in our school community to join our children in sending in short clips to be edited together in our final video.
“We hope you enjoy, and we ask that you donate or share the video to others to spread a smile and hopefully raise some money for this fantastic charity who work so hard all year round.”
The Crypt’s mission is to support the vulnerable in Leeds by leading to pathways of activities, support and training to enable people to become independent.
