Killinghall Church of England Primary School, Harrogate is celebrating a successful Statutory Inspection of Anglican and Methodist Schools (SIAMS) inspection.
In the report the inspector recognised that pupils and staff flourish because of the way in which the school’s Christian vision is alive in the school.
The school’s vision is ‘Through the light of Jesus, we strive, we share, we shine’, coming from John 8:12: “Jesus said, 'I am the light of the world. Whoever follows me will never walk in darkness but will have the light of life.’”
This vision has been shown in action in the kindness shown by pupils.
Ella Besharati, Headteacher, said: “One of our pupils, Freddie, was awarded runner-up for the National Kindness Award, and was presented with a glass trophy and certificate.
“Freddie organised a charity event to mark World Down Syndrome Day and raise awareness within our school community.
“His sister, Edie, was super proud of him, as are we all!
“Well done Freddie!”
Paul Bowlas, diocesan School Adviser for Senior Leadership, said: “During a recent visit to Killinghall Church of England Primary School, it was a privilege to hear about Freddie’s kindness award.
“The school ensures ‘pupils have a deep sense of justice’.
“This was one of the many positives and strengths highlighted in the recent SIAMS report.”
