Warm Welcomes in freezing weather for people at their local church hall

Snow and ice didn’t stop local people getting Warm Welcomes at St Agnes, Burmantofts on Monday, thanks to very dedicated volunteers.

Although the church in Leeds was too cold for worship the day before, worshipper and Warm Welcome Space Coordinator Gill Wigham told what happened:

“I was worried about our Warm Welcome Space service users, many of them unable to heat their homes or feed themselves properly. I went to put a notice on our hall door to say closed and there several people were already outside, the need is so great,” Gill said. Pathways were carefully gritted and the hall was opened successfully.

“It was God working a miracle, we opened and gave warmth, food and fellowship to 37 people, not least ourselves who are so blessed by this group.

“We are into our third season (starting beginning of January 2023) and our numbers have gone from zero to over 40 most sessions.

“I can't stop praising God. A terrible weather day was turned into a wonderful day.”
