Poignant images of people going about their everyday business in Syria have gone on show in Wakefield Cathedral this week.
The exhibition by photographer vicar, the Revd Rupert Martin, vicar of Sandal St Helen’s and St Paul’s, Walton in the Wakefield Episcopal Area show people’s lives before the war and are a reminder of how quickly situations can change in any country at any given time.
The free exhibition – which is open from 9 – 4pm every day in the Cathedral until June 20 – is to mark Refugee week – a UK-wide programme of arts, cultural and educational events and activities that celebrates the contribution of refugees to the UK and aims to promote a better understanding of why people seek sanctuary.
These poignant and thought provoking exhibition of photographs are beautiful large scale black and white images of people going about their everyday life.
