2024 Diocesan Synod elections
Elections are now being held in all deaneries for clergy and lay membership of the 2024-27 Diocesan Synod.
Diocesan Synod members for your deanery are nominated and elected by the deanery synod members.
The timetable for the elections is here For FAQs about the Diocesan Synod elections click here
Jonathan Wood, CEO and Presiding Officer encourages you to get involved:
"The Diocese has an exciting but challenging agenda for the next three years as we seek to Love, Live and Learn together.
Synod has an important role to play in helping shape our future and for this reason I want to encourage you to consider standing.
It is a great way to be involved in the diocese and to bring the views of your deanery to the decision making process.
A representative and engaged synod will help support the implementation of our vision of having confident Christians in growing churches which are transforming communities.
There won’t be a better time to get involved.
If you have any questions about Diocesan Synod or being a candidate in the election, please contact me or Heather Burge

Synod and the National Church
As part of Diocesan Synod's work, it can submit motions for debate to the Church of England's General Synod, allowing us to help shape the conversation and direction of the national church. In the past these have included motions on tackling inequality, blood and organ donation and more. A full list of motions submitted to General Synod can be found here.
