Archbishop of York sends warmest thanks

Pentecost Service, York Minster June 2014The Archbishop of York, John Sentamu, has sent a letter expressing his warmest thanks to all those that took part in the Pentecost Service confirming the election of Nick Baines as Bishop of Leeds and inaugurating the new diocese of West Yorkshire and the Dales.

He described the liturgy and music as superb and acknowledged the enormous amount of hard work by so many people to not only make the service such an excellent and welcoming occasion but also to get the diocese to a state of readiness to begin its new life.

In his sermon the Archbishop invited the new Diocese to go forward in Mission to communicate the reality of our changed lives. Many of us couldn't be at the service but get a flavour of it by  reading the Archbishop's Sermon and seeing more pictures.
