West Yorkshire Community Chaplaincy Project is looking for volunteer link workers to help them provide resettlement support for men leaving HMP Leeds and HMP Wealstun.
Amy Benson from WYCCP says, “We help those being released from prison to integrate into the community through practical support both inside the prison and after release. Our work helps ex-offenders break the cycle of re-offending and improves their life chances, and it helps to create safer and healthier communities. Local faith communities have an integral part to play in this process.”
Link worker Josie Foster says, “I’ve met some truly inspiring service users. These are men who have remained positive and motivated, in spite of the turmoil they may have previously experienced, and despite what life may continue to throw at them. Working to support our service users can provide a real sense of achievement, knowing that you’re helping to make a real difference in someone’s life.”
An assessment session will take place on the morning of Wednesday 24 September and induction training dates (10am-4pm) are 1, 8 and 15 October. Interviews take place on 22 and 23 October and there will also be a half day Spider training session on 29 October.
