The first confirmation in the Ripon Episcopal area took place on May 4th at St Cuthbert's Church in Pateley Bridge. The service was conducted by Bishop James and was described by Vicar, Revd Darryl Hall as “a wonderful, uplifting and Spirit-filled service.”
Six candidates were confirmed and one affirmed their Baptismal Faith. “ It was a memorable occasion”, added Darryl, “ partly because it was the first in the new diocese, partly because Bishop James is an inspirational man with great spirituality, partly because of the genuine warmth of our congregations and mostly the sense Christ's presence within the service.”
Four members of one family were confirmed at the service, Anna, Sophie, Sue and Hugh Beever. Afterwards they said there was "a real sense of occasion, yet Bishop James made it an intimate and personal experience for each one of us. It was wonderfully uplifting and affirming to see so many friends and neighbours in the congregation, and we truly felt part of a strong and vibrant Christian community."
