Invitation to Day of Prayer for the new Diocese and Bishop

CandlesA Day of Prayer for the new Diocese of West Yorkshire and the Dales is to take place on Saturday July 12th, with parishes being encouraged to set aside time in their churches for reflection and prayer for Bishop Nick Baines the new diocesan bishop, ahead of his enthronement services the following week.

The three Cathedrals of Wakefield, Bradford and Ripon are taking a lead, each setting aside some time during July 12th for prayer and reflection.

Members of other churches and visitors will all be welcomed to join in whether for ten minutes, an hour or for the whole day. Canon John Dobson, the next Dean of Ripon says, “I look forward to welcoming friends old and new to Ripon Cathedral for this Day of Prayer. Together with our sister Cathedrals in Wakefield and Bradford, we want to provide an opportunity to surround the new Diocese and Bishop Nick in prayer right from the start..”

In Bradford Cathedral, a chapel is to be set aside from 1pm - 3pm for the Day of Prayer and prayer leaflets will be available for visitors who want to drop in and pray.

In Wakefield Cathedral,  St Mark's Chapel  will be a focus of prayer throughout the day from 830am-3.30pm as well as the10.30am morning Eucharist.  Prayer cards will be available and candles will be lit.

Bishop Nick will be enthroned in the week following the day of prayer: at Wakefield Cathedral on Tuesday 15th July, Bradford Cathedral on Thursday 17th July and in Ripon Cathedral on Sunday 20th July.
