1000 people came to St Chad's Headingley for their Olympic Torch event, and they're expecting the same interest for their Tour de France event this Sunday, just six days before Le Grand Départ.
Team Vicar, the Revd Tom Lusty, says, "The theme is, of course, cycling and all things French. There'll be music and dancing from genuine French group Les Panards Dansants, along with crepes and pétanque. And we have almost anything you can think of to do with bikes - there'll be cycle races, a best-dressed bike competition (and a bling-your-bike stall), a bike doctor service, teaching children how to ride and the police will be security marking bikes. There's even a competition for the fastest rider on state-of-the-art static racing kit.
"We had over 1000 revellers for our Olympic torch event which was a fantastic community event for the whole family. We're expecting the same level of enthusiasm this year, so please come along and join in. And bring your bike - lycra and beret are optional!.
There'll also be a BBQ, bar, stalls and music from Abbey Grange Academy and Horsforth Music Centre.
The event begins at 3pm on Sunday 29 June at St Chad's parish centre, Otley Road, Far Headingley. LS16 5JT.
