The Diocese of Leeds is pleased to announce that the Revd Bill Braviner has been appointed as the next Archdeacon of Halifax.
Revd Bill joins us from the Diocese of Durham, where he is currently serving as the Incumbent of St Peter Stockton-on-Tees and St John Elton.
Revd Bill is originally from South Shields and has lived and worked all over England both before his ordination and since.
We’ve asked Revd Bill to introduce himself, and he says: “I’m married to Angela, and we have two grown up sons: Ben, who’s a lighting engineer for concerts, events etc and is based in Liverpool (but works all over the place!), and Jon, who’s a hospital doctor in Middlesbrough.
“My family originally came from Yorkshire, as did Angela’s.
“I play drums though not very often these days, and I used to play American Football as well as cricket.
“I enjoy cooking and like a curry!
“I’m really looking forward to coming to the Diocese of Leeds and the Huddersfield Episcopal Area, to getting to know the parishes and people, and joining in the mission and ministry of God’s Church in such a wonderful place.
“We can’t wait!”
The Rt Revd Nick Baines, Bishop of Leeds, said: “I warmly welcome Bill to serve with us as the next Archdeacon of Halifax.
“He brings to the role long experience of parochial ministry, diocesan engagement and General Synod work on behalf of the Diocese of Durham.
“I look forward to him and Angela joining us in serving God and his church in this part of the world in the early spring.”
Revd Bill's installation will take place on at 3.30pm on Sunday, February 27, at Wakefield Cathedral.
