Promoting the power of prayer is the key task of the diocese’s new Co-ordinator of Prayer and Spirituality, Revd Henriette Howarth.
Speaking of her recently annnounced appointment, Revd Henriette commented:
“I'm very happy to have been asked to take on the role as Co-ordinator of Prayer and Spirituality in the Diocese of Leeds and to build on the excellent work of Paul Maybury,” she said.
“I look forward to working with others in the diocesan team and with people in the local churches to develop a strong sense of spiritual connection and reliance on God’s Spirit so we can be fruitful in our ministry and mission.
“Throughout my ministry in various contexts I have experienced the power of prayer and the importance of a contemplative practice,” Revd Henriette said, adding: “The role is for two days a month and my task is to help, inspire and co-ordinate the work of those promoting prayer across our diocese.”
Diocesan Director of Ministry and Mission, Revd Canon Andrew Norman welcomed Revd Henriette into her new role:
“It’s absolutely crucial that prayer is kept at the heart of our vision for Confident Christians , Growing Churches, Transforming Communities.
“The Prayer and Spirituality Co-ordinator plays a vital role in our efforts to grow together as people who take prayer seriously.
“Henriette will lead a team of enthusiasts which includes Episcopal Area Co-ordinators, who oversee our provision of Spiritual Directors; she’ll also be a welcome addition to our Rhythm of Life Steering Group.”
