A new course from the Diocese of Leeds aims to help churches think more about caring for creation, as the world looks to increase action tackling climate change.
The Creation Salvation course is designed for anyone in parish ministry who would like to see creation care embedded in the life of their church, and will be running throughout the autumn and in the new year.
All are welcome to attend including members of the congregation and those with a particular role at a church, including Parish Environment Officers, PCC members, Clergy, Readers, Churchwardens and Treasurers.
The course will cover a wide variety of subjects, including buildings, worship, lifestyle and the global community.
The course is led by Diocesan Environment Officer Jemima Parker, and Jan Goodair, Area Environment Champion for Leeds and a retired priest, and they are assisted by the Revd Ruth Newton, parish priest of St John’s Sharow, and the Revd Debby Plummer, Environment Champion for Huddersfield.
Jemima said; “I’m delighted to be running the Creation Salvation course again twice this autumn.
"It’s a fabulous working with the Parish Environment Officers and other who are passionate to see their churches respond to the current climate and ecological crisis.
"We are all learning together how to live and preach the good news of the gospel in this new context.”
Participants will be required to join the Diocesan Learning Platform (Moodle) to access course materials and the class discussion forum.
The course will run from 7pm to 9pm on Thursdays, with the next set of sessions beginning on November 4.
