Songs of Praise's Aled broadcasts from Fountains Bradford on Sunday

BBC Songs of Praise focusses on Fountains Church, Bradford this Sunday with a special broadcast about its transformation from derelict nightclub to bustling worship space.

Regenerating Communities is the over-arching topic of the programme presented by Aled Jones and which goes out on BBC2  at 1.15pm on Sunday, August 8.

Revd Linda Maslen, vicar at Fountains said: “It was wonderful to be able to share with the Songs of Praise team the transformation that has taken place in the night club building that is the home to Fountains Church and also to talk about the transformation that we are seeing Jesus make in people's lives.

“We had great fun meeting Aled Jones and he seemed to really enjoy the time he spent with us.”

Archdeacon of Bradford, Andy Jolley added: “It was great to welcome the Songs of Praise team to Bradford and to highlight the place of Fountains Church in bringing hope and new life at the heart of our fantastic city.”

Fountains Church is a new Anglican resource church in Glydegate, beside City Park and in a building that was once a nightclub called Revolution.

Work to restore the building, which had been derelict for some time, continues as the church congregation grows, with plans to use and rent out some of its space for community benefit in its key city centre location.
