Labour Life Peer, Maurice Glasman is inviting anyone interested to come and join the conversation on the politics of the Common Good.
Lord Glasman is establishing the Common Good Foundation and is trying to bring together Christians of different traditions, fellow faith communities and interested parties from the secular world to work better together and encourage each other to grow and flourish.
And he believes the church is a key player in this Common Good Foundation - committed as it is to working to transform communities and people's lives.
He will speak at an open meeting at St Mary's Church, Todmorden on Thursday June 26 at 7.30pm.
The vicar of Todmorden, the Revd Canon Owen Page said: "This work is about bringing together estranged groups: the churches, secular people, business, unions, environmental and community organisations as well as those individuals who believe in the common good.
"By building relationships together, we have power, with power we can better take action in Todmorden and beyond," he said.
Specific projects for the Foundation include work around developing the Salford Credit Union into the Bank of Salford for sensible personal credit and local business banking. This project is being designed so that it can be duplicated elsewhere.
Another initiative focuses on affordable quality housing. The CGF will also run leadership education for community organising - to examine what do we want to do through social enterprise and by pitching in together in the place we live?
The meeting will start with a short talk by Lord Glasman followed by an open discussion.
