A joyful diocesan celebration took place at Wakefield Cathedral when Bishop Nick confirmed 27 candidates from across our region.
“Wow! What a special service!’” was the reaction of one of the Confirmation candidates last Sunday at Wakefield Cathedral.
A congregation drawn from across four of our five episcopal areas was in the cathedral to support the candidates young and old, who were confirmed by Bishop Nick.
In a wonderful celebration of the work of the Holy Spirit in our diocese, candidates ranging in age from eight to eighty heard the Bishop speak about the fruits of the Spirit before they received Holy Communion for the first time.
The Dean of Wakefield, the Very Revd Simon Cowling, was delighted to welcome so many people into the safe worship space: “A service like this shows that God is at work in our parishes and communities, calling men, women and children to join in with his mission. We have much to be thankful for!”, he said.
