The Diocese is seeking to appoint a Parish Support Officer, who will play a vital role in developing strong financial relationships between parishes and the Diocese.
The Diocese is focused on growing an open and trusting relationships with all parishes and supporting every parish to be financially sustainable. You will spend much of your time out meeting parishes understanding their context and discussing and agreeing what a reasonable financial contribution is to the work of the Diocese (aka Parish Share). Working with colleagues in our Stewardship team, you will be pivotal in identifying the support that parishes need in order to achieve that financial sustainability.
Reporting to the Senior Stewardship Officer the key responsibilities of the role include:
- To lead budget meetings with all parishes over a three-year cycle to agree three-year plans for the payment of Parish Share and identify support needs.
- Work with colleagues to ensure support needs identified in parish meetings are acted upon in a timely manner.
- With the Finance and Stewardship teams, review progress with the payment of Parish Share across the Diocese each month, identifying parishes which are falling behind with payment and which face other financial challenges.
- Ensure there is direct engagement with those parishes that are not paying Parish Share in full, working with Episcopal Area teams to communicate the importance of paying Parish Share to Clergy, Parish Treasurers and Church Wardens, as well as understanding their financial challenges and future plans.
- Identify and promote resources for parishes to support them with their financial management.
- Working with the Stewardship and Finance teams, support the provision of development and training opportunities in financial management for Clergy, Parish Treasurers and Church Wardens.
Salary: £35,587 to £38,596 depending on experience
8% non-contributory pensions (+ up to 5% matched) + 25 Days Holiday + Bank holidays + customary days
Location: offices in Leeds City Centre but up to 50% home based
Full Time 35 hours per week
