Garforth is a single church benefice comprising an attractive commuter town to the east of Leeds. The parish brochure describes well the area and its facilities. It is a place where good parish ministry continues to work well with traditional residents, alongside which there is the substantial challenge of reaching the commuter population who relate to a wider area.
St Mary's is warm and welcoming and we are seeking a priest who will help us follow our to know God, to show, God and to share God through Jesus Christ.
This church is ready for its next phase of mission. It is notable that the PCC chose to quote Isaiah 43:19a on the front cover of their brochure. There is an appetite for growth and a readiness to review and revise their vision for the next steps.
Are you a priest who will:
- Preach, teach, and lead in ways that inspire, encourage and challenge us to grow as disciples of Jesus. Help us to further our missional vision for St Mary’s
- Lead collaboratively and inspire others, working closely with the laity.
- Share our commitment to becoming a fully inclusive church and a welcoming presence in Garforth. Offer compassionate pastoral care, both to our congregation and to the wider community.
- Guide us through times of change with sensitivity and wisdom. Build on all that is already good at St Mary’s while encouraging new ideas and ways of worshipping together.
- Communicate clearly and positively, both in person and in writing.
- Embrace technology, helping us to share the good news of Jesus through our website, social media and streamed services.
