For the 10th year running, St George’s, Leeds will be holding their hugely popular Contemporary Carols service on the first weekend in Advent.
It’s a vibrant, alternative service that blends pop music, fresh takes on classic carols and short thought-provoking talks.
St George’s say it’s an ideal service to invite people to and has ‘changed many perceptions of the Church and faith in Christ’.
Worship Pastor, Dan Hebden, says, “Contemporary carols is an attractive event to which Christians around the city can feel confident to invite those who don’t yet know Jesus. It’s the perfect party to kick off the festive season!
“The service has seen many people come to faith in Jesus. In fact, one of our current staff members first came into contact with Church through Contemporary Carols.”
Contemporary Carols includes new arrangements of traditional carols (using drums, guitars, keyboards, synths, loops, and brass) and contemporary pop songs, all interspersed with short, sharp talks that “share the grand narrative of the Christian story”.
Dan adds, “Join us this year as we begin 'The Search' to look beyond our expectations and discover a King unlike any other”.
