A digital farewell for our diocesan interns class of 2020

Interns from across the diocese joined together digitally for a final celebration to mark the end of a year of leadership development and discipleship.

Each year from September to July the Leeds Diocesan Internship scheme offers an opportunity for participants to explore more of what it means to be a disciple of Christ and to serve his church.

The year-long volunteer role is designed to equip young people for life, work and leadership, and involves practical placements, weekly training and community living.

In light of the COVID-19 pandemic, the current cohort of interns experienced an unexpected and challenging end to their time on the scheme, supporting their placement parishes with online church and serving those in need.

A dedicated page on our website has now also been created, offering further information about the scheme and access to the 2020 brochure. Find it here - www.leeds.anglican.org/interns

“This is an amazing opportunity to give of a year, to serve the church and to discover more of what God has for you,” said Revd Joanna Seabourne, Director of Interns for the diocese.

“It is a year of being stretched in discipleship, of taking on new responsibilities and learning new skills. It’s about discovering your gifts and what God’s calling you to.”

“Each intern gets to be placed in a church where they serve and get to know the community there. Then we gather for a day a week as a group to reflect on what God has done and to receive teaching on a whole range of different aspects of life in the Kingdom of God.”

Recruitment for September is now underway and if you think the scheme is for you, find out more here and how you can apply.
