Hoards of Keighley folk have been welcomed at a free town centre festival of music, food and fun organised by local Christians.
The churches of Keighley put on the Festival of Life on Church Green with live music, a free barbeque, a bouncy castle, activities for children and a space for people to come together.
It was a beautiful, sunny day and more than a thousand people joined in the party.
Revd Mike Cansdale of Keighley Parish, pictured with the band, explained the vision behind ithe event: “We believe that God loves Keighley and as churches we are committed to serving this community.
“This was a great event full of hope, friendship and a practical demonstration of the love of God.”
The whole of Church Green was filled with marquees and activities, and all for free.
Families with children enjoyed the face painting and crafts, others sat and chatted with friends whilst listening to the live music and all were invited to enjoy the free barbeque. Town Mayor Peter Corkindale and MP John Grogan opened the event and both spoke positively of the friendly atmosphere and the positive role of the churches in Keighley. 
Revd Jonathan Pritchard, vicar of All Saints', Keighley said: “At a time like this when there are pressures that seek to divide our communities it is so important that we create space to bring people together.
“There was a lovely atmosphere as Keighley came out to celebrate in the sunshine.'”
The event was run by a large team of volunteers from across many different churches in Keighley and the organisers were delighted with the turnout and atmosphere on the day. Henry Pettinger of Keighley Churches Together said: “There is a great spirit of unity amongst the churches and a common desire to be a blessing to this town.
“It was brilliant to be able to offer this welcome to everybody and we want to thank all the volunteers who made it possible.”
