Acts of Remembrance held across Diocese

Poignant services of Remembrance took place at churches across our diocese last weekend, to remember those lost to war and conflict. 
Acts of Remembrance were held at war memorials alongside services in church, with the participation of uniformed services including the Army, Air Cadets, and Scouts and Guides.
Revd Ruth Harris, Vicar of Christ Church Skipton with St Mary Carleton in Craven, said: “At Christ Church Skipton, during our Family Eucharist on Sunday, we had an Act of Remembrance by the church war memorial and the children brought poppies to the altar as part of our prayers. 
“After the service many then went to the High Street for the town’s commemoration at the Town War memorial led by Revd Rod Geddes followed by a service in Holy Trinity, Skipton.
“At St Mary’s Carleton many from the village were at the church for the Act of Remembrance at the war memorial.
“They then joined the service following, when the War Memorial rescued from the village’s Wesleyan Chapel was dedicated in its new hanging space. 
“Our Remembrance Day services and activities were a good opportunity for our communities to come together to honour those who have died in conflict and to commit ourselves to working for peace.”
