All aboard for carols as Worth Valley Railway celebrates Christmas

The carol train - courtesy of Premier RadioThe annual Carol Train has been steaming along the Worth Valley Railway with carols at each stop led by the local churches.

From Oxenhope to Haworth and then to Oakworth and Keighley, brass bands and carollers joined with steam train enthusiasts to celebrate Christmas.

“It’s a wonderful thing and  brings the good news of Jesus Christ to people” said the Rector of Haworth, the Revd Peter Mayo-Smith

On board were carols singers, a brass band and the Vicar of Oxenhope, Canon Bruce Grainger.

As the train chugged along the line made famous by the classic 1970’s film The Railway Children they re-told the Christmas story to a train full of passengers from all over Yorkshire.

Premier Radio’s  Ian Britton travelled on the train and recorded a radio feature of the evening which you can listen to here..
