And the sun shone brightly on our six of our new priests for the Huddersfield Area when they became the first priests ordained into the Church of England by the first Bishop of Huddersfield, the Rt Revd Dr Jonathan Gibbs.
The service was held at St Peter's Huddersfield with the vicar of Huddersfield, the Revd Canon Simon Moor and the Archdeacon of Halifax, the Ven Dr Anne Dawtry.
The six ordained are: Stephen Rochell, who serves the United Benefice of Hartshead, Hightown, Roberttown and Scholes;
Kate Currie, serves the parishes of High Hoyland, Scissett and Clayton West;
Simon Crook serves Huddersfield St Peter’s; Val Keating serves with Batley All Saints, Purwell St Andrew, Batley St Thomas and Hanging Heaton St Paul.
Sarah Farrimond serves with Birchencliffe St Philip and Birkby St Cuthbert and
Charlene Smith serves The United Benefice of Meltham Christ the King.

Earlier in the day, Migeul Sanchez Rodriguez who serves at All Saints, Elland was ordained priest by Bishop Tony, the Bishop of Wakefield at 1.30pm in his serving church.
