Anne Frank exhibition opens at Halifax Minster

A thought-provoking exhibition hosted at Halifax Minster has recently been opened by the Anne Frank Trust UK.
Anne Frank: A History for Today was launched at the Minster’s Remembrance Day Service.
The popular exhibition captures the experience of Anne Frank's life.
By placing the complex historical events of the Holocaust against the backdrop of the life of one inspirational young person, the display enables visitors to grasp the human consequences of persecution and war.
It asks us to think about how these issues are relevant today and what we can do to prevent and help challenge prejudice and discrimination.
Revd Canon Hilary Barber, Vicar of Halifax Minster, said: “It’s a powerful story of a girl who as a refugee in Holland, went into hiding and wrote a diary, aged 15, of living in fear as a Jew under Nazi rule.
Eventually she was found, arrested, and murdered in Auschwitz.
Her dairy speaks of racism, gender, issues of migration and refugees, of Hate Crime and much more besides.
Her words remain as important to society today as when she first wrote them, as a female teenager in the 1940s.”
The Anne Frank exhibition runs from November 10-22 in the Minster and is open daily 10am – 4pm.
