Appeal for new diocesan cricketers to come to the crease this summer

Cricketers from Richmond to Barnsley, Hawes to Halifax are needed for the Diocese of Leeds Cricket Team 2019.

Vicar of Otley, Graham Buttanshaw has launched an appeal for would-be players to get in touch and take part in friendly sporting rivalry within a national competition.

“The team welcomes clergy, readers, ordinands, and full-time church workers, regardless of gender and from any denomination, to play in our Church Times Cup matches, on Mondays or Thursdays.

“We are very much a mixed ability team, so there's a place for you!” Graham said.

“We'll organise a practice net and first round matches will be played in May and early June.”

The date of the practice that Graham mentions will be Thursday, May 2, at Headingley Cricket Centre, St Michael's Lane, LS6 3BR.

The games in May and June will include fixtures against Manchester, Liverpool, Chester, Lichfield, Blackburn and Carlisle.
